Born and brought up in Kerala, India, Usha Kishore lives on the Isle of Man, with her doctor husband and two children. Usha was educated at the University of Kerala (India), Sheffield Hallam University (UK) and Canterbury Christ Church University (UK). After having taught for some time in the British Secondary and Tertiary Sector in Kent and on the Isle of Man, Usha now teaches at Queen Elizabeth II High School, where she is KS5 co-ordinator for English.
Usha’s poetry is internationally published and translated into German, Spanish, Gujurati and Manx Gaelic. Her work has won prizes in UK competitions and has been part of national and international projects. Usha’s poetry is also part of the British Primary and Indian Middle School and Undergraduate syllabi.
Usha is the author of 2 collections of poetry and book of translation from the Sanskrit. A third collection of poetry is forthcoming from Eyewear Publishing London. Usha has read at the House of Lords, The Nehru Centre (Indian High Commission), London and at the Manx LitFest and on Manx Radio and Near FM Dublin.
